Engraving Requirements

What you need to know before requesting engraving. (Applicable to all types of engraving)

1) Text engraving

It is advisable when considering text engraving to appreciate the size of the item's engraving area. The image itself should give an idea, however we are always available via email or phone to give advice if required. Please be aware that your text engraving costs can not be refunded if all the text fails to fit the engraving space.

2) Logo Artwork

• Logo artwork should be supplied in black and white (not grey) as a bromide or as high quality, PC Formatted BMP, TIFF, JPG or EPS to a quality not less than 300 D.P.I. -EPS vector files being the preferred and least restrictive format.

• Please do not send Microsoft Word Files or imbedded Bitmaps as an EPS file. Please do not send Macintosh files as we cannot open them – however, all Macintosh Computers should have an option for saving as a PC Version.
  

• If you send us artwork originating from the very latest computer software and we find it to be incompatible, we will contact you as soon as possible and request an alternative file type.

• We can work from paper/fax artwork and poor quality BMP’s, however an extra origination charge will be made for work on the logo to make it into an acceptable and useable medium. We will always contact and quote you before we proceed.

3) Origination charges

The minimum origination charge is £10.00 +VAT. If the artwork is of poor quality then an extra charge will be made. It is not unusual for this to be exceeding £30.00 as it is extremely time consuming to redraw artwork for you. Origination charges are a “One-off” – once the work is done and the artwork is usable, all repeat jobs will not include an origination charge. We will always contact you to discuss options if artwork sent to us is not of the quality required.

 
4) Proofing

Proofing is a very important part of the process to ensure that you are satisfied with the engraving. We will proof all artwork once – without additional cost.
